What is the Registrar Constituency and what does it do?

The Registrar Constituency is the main representative body of ICANN accredited domain name registrars, and was first recognized by the ICANN Board at its meeting on 27 May 1999 (resolution 99.31). The group participates in the ICANN policy making process and serves as the voice of registrars within the ICANN process.

How does the Registrar Constituency fit in with ICANN and other groups?

The constituency is part of the Generic Names Support Organization (GNSO), which is the main policymaking body within ICANN. The Registrar Constituency elect three representatives to the GNSO council who are tasked with putting forward the registrars' points of view and with voting on policy matters, plus one individual to serve on the Nominating Committee.

What is the organisation/structure of the Registrar Constituency?

- Members, consisting of ICANN Accredited Registrars that have met requirements and paid membership fees.
- Executive Committee, including a Chairman, Vice Chair / CTO, Secretary and Treasurer.
- GNSO Council Members, elected by the Constituency to represent Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.
- Nominating Committee Member elected by the Constituency to serve on NOMCOM.
- Support Staff, including a Secretariat, Legal Advocate, and Website Administrator.
